Nov. 11 Larinda left her summer mooring in Cotuit, Ma. on Oct. 21, 2000. She is now tied up at MacDougall,s Cape Cod Marine Service in Falmouth, MA. A Halloween party was held on Oct. 29, 2000 to help raise food for the Falmouth food pantry. Although a cold and very dark day, the friends of Larinda and other local folk came and brought a substantial amount of food. We are now in our winter mode and maintenance work is being performed. Sanding, painting and other like jobs are the norm. December 2, 2000 we plan to sail to Hyannis, MA,. in order to be in the annual Christmas boat parade. We will have an open house from 1400 - 1600 and again from 1800 - 2000 on that Saturday. The parade starts at 1700 and ends at 1730. Cannons are in order and we expect a load of VIP's and friends to be onboard. Meanwhile, while all the vessel work is on going, we are planning our Tall Ships 2001 voyage. This year it will be on the Great Lakes. Tall Ships 2000 was an incredible year for history, culture and friendship. These events covered the whole eastern seaboard and joined many cities and small communities. This coming year, Tall ships 2001 will produce the same effect in the Great Lakes Region, including the United States and Canada. As before, millions will travel thousands of miles to catch a glimpse or board unique tall ships from all over the globe. Larinda, Cape cod's own tall ship, will be there acting as Cape Cod's goodwill ambassador just as she did during Tall Ships 2000. Larinda's image is well known and demands for her appearances in various cities has grown one hundred fold since her launch at Falmouth, MA. in 1996. Positive images such as Larinda provide a perfect opportunity to expand goodwill ambassadorship to the local region, nationally and the world. Corporate and private involvement with the Larinda image is sought for the expressed purpose of involving Larinda in Tall Ships 2001. Your support with this next historic event will help generate a greatly expanded look at Cape Cod. Managing and maintaining a large tall ship is very complicated and involves a myriad of services, agencies and individuals. Some of these are provided by volunteers, others are funded by the Larinda expense accounts. Please keep in mind that over 42,000 visitors have boarded Larinda since her launching in 1996. She has sailed to over 100 different ports including all the Tall Ship events from Norfolk,VA. to Halifax, Nova Scotia. During this time, she has been featured on many television and radio networks, newspapers, periodicals and other media. Larinda's image is well known here and abroad. Our web site has produced more incredible figures. Just this past September, 19,000 visitors viewed the site. One of our link hosts, the Tall ships News Wire, recorded over 8,000 visits during the first thirteen days of July. People love to see Larinda and find out what she is all about. Please consider joining our team of enthusiastic sponsors helping us prepare for the tall Ships 2001. We will be adding a new feature to our web site detailing our plans soon. We are also looking for crisp photos of Larinda under sail. Especially during all the tall ship parades. The photos may be added to the web site or other materials. When sending photos include date, place and permission to use the photo. Mail photos to: Schooner Larinda - 26 Redmond Ave. N. Reading ,MA. 01864. Thanks for your help and support. Fair winds
and lots of sunshine, |
